Before you continue to read I just have to giggle at the fact that this mathematically make total sense. There may be language that some find offensive but honestly there is no other way to share it. It's Priceless!

It has an indisputable mathematical logic. It also made me Laugh Out Loud.

Dressing For Your Pear Shape

Pear Shape - this is said to be the most common with women.

Typically women with pear shaped bodies have a slender face and neck. Shoulders are shapely but also narrow and slope downward. Small to medium bust and a well defined waist. While the lower area- buttocks, hips, thighs and calves are comparatively larger holding most of the weight.

Dressing the Pear-Shaped Figure:

We have to think about balance. We want to give the appearance of wider shoulders and bigger bust this will help take the attention off the widest part of the body by bringing the eyes up to your face, neck, bust and waist. So in other words what you need to do is to over play your upper body and give your lower body a slimmer sleeker look. Do this by using color on top, wide neck lines, accentuate your waste and wear dark colors on the bottom.

Top it off!

Because your bottom half is slightly larger than your top, you can wear slightly looser fitting cloths on top with out any problem. However, fitted tops look great on you as well. Blouses with a lot of detailing, tops in all sorts of prints with lighter and brighter colors, or textured fabrics are what you want to look for in your tops. This will help balance your lower half.

Puffy sleeves and tops that hug the shoulders or ones with wide-set straps will help to visually widen the chest and shoulders.

Look for necklines that are scooped, draped, v'd, rounded or squared. Any neckline that has a lower and wider neckline will look great. These will emphasize your bust and draw attention to your face. Also look for an under-wire or molded bras to help with balance. A halter top that ties at the neck will give the shoulders the appearance of width they need, and this will help balance out your hips and thighs.

Dress it up!

A-line and flared skirts look best on pears. When choosing a dress, choose a dress with an empire waste or a wrap dress which will flow over your hips. Keep the prinst on top and darker solid colors on the bottom. Don't for get, your dresses will want to have the same features mentioned above on the top.

Bottoms Up!
You want to look for jeans or pants that are flared or have a wide-leg, this will help hide your thicker thighs. Straight legged jeans are also a good for a sleek slimmer look. Go for mid-rise dark jeans (the darker the better) and dark pants. This gives the illusion of a slimmer hips and bottom. Be sure to check my Jeans for your shape page.

Step it up!
Shoes with a pointed toe will help give the illusion of an elongated figure. A rounded toe shoe will make you look chunkier as will chunky footwear. Keep in mind that shoes with a generous cut that show the start of your toes are much more flattering than a closed to shoe . Avoid stiletto heels as they will make you look out of proportion, however, sleek shoes with a thinner heel will work better visually. Find just the right pair at www.Heels.com

Stay Away!

Stay away from body-hugging tight skirts. This will only show every bump and curve. You also want to keep away from full skirts or jeans with large pocket. Pockets will only add dimension to your already fuller hips.

Avoid dresses that have a bias cut that hugs the bottom. Bold patterns, large checks, and light colors are not recommended for below the waist.

Stay away from tight jeans with too much detail on the hips or bottom, such as flaps or embroidery on back pockets. This will only draw the eyes right to your problem area. Stay away from pants with bulky side pockets.

Stay away from tapered jeans or pants, this is something you never ever want to wear. The narrow and tapered legs will only make your hips appear huge.

Stay away from high-waisted pants as these tend to make your bottom look larger.

Stay away from jackets that finish at the widest part of your hips.

Stay away form flashy belts that draw attention to your hips and thighs.

I have been saying it for so long I sometimes forget that the FabFem is a new concept to some people out there and 2011 is going to be the year that we sing it to the mountains about how fabulous you feel when you have a session like this done.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that the session has to be done in your Lingerie, but this is just not true. Our goal is to have each and every individual who comes through our doors feel comfortable and confident in the skin they are in. We aim at creating an atmosphere that allows people to let their guard down and enjoy who they are with out judgement for at least the session.

Our ultimate goal is that high carries through to everyday life and we all start to celebrate haw fabulous we can really all be! Those are my wishes for the FabFem & our FabCouples sessions. Crystal and I seem to be blessed with being able to make people feel so comfortable around us that, our clients cut loose and truly just enjoy this experience.

From brides to boudoir

Nancy Barbosa Alaimo, who is Photographer and Creative Director of the Fabulous Feminine sessions, has been an artist for as long as she can remember. She’s been shooting weddings (via her company, nbphotos), people and relationships for over 18 years. “I love the instant high that it gives me,” she told The Ring. “I see myself as a reverse archaeologist, leaving bits and moments of people behind for future generations to see.” Her “first paid gig” was when she was just sixteen and she admits that she’s been hooked ever since. “Whether it’s weddings, families or my absolute favourite – FabFem sessions – it makes me feel like I am doing exactly what I should be…”

Fabulous Feminine Photography modern boudoir and glamour sessions are geared towards women & couples. Nancy loves that these photo sessions allow her to “switch gears”, to go from the “mass wedding mentality” (hundreds of guests, big wedding parties, families, etc) to putting all her focus and energy into one person (sometimes two, in the case of FabCouples shoots). We here at the Fabulous Feminine have always believed that EVERYONE deserves the opportunity to explore and show off their unique and sexy sides.

It obviously started with the traditional female boudoir/pinup/glam style photography that morphed into Our signature "Be Who YOU Want to Be" experience.

We then encountered some AMAZING Men who were inspired by masculine images of people like David Beckham, Johnny Depp and Will Smith, wanting the same experience for themselves.

This left us in a bit of tither, men don't wan't a FAB FEM... hence the creation of the FAB MEN!!!

Well once again our clients have challenged and surprised us! Why not be Fabulous with the one you love?! While not for everyone, the FAB COUPLES experience is a chance for our more adventurous clients to take what makes them unique and create photographic art!

As always, ALL of our FAB Fotos are completely private, however, we are so blessed to have clients that allow us to show them off in hopes of inspiring others and well... they're just so darn proud of their Hottness!!!

I would recommend every women take the time to experience a photoshoot with Nancy.

Mere words could never do justice to the Fabulous Feminine experience, but how else are we to express its unique beauty and unparalleled sense of empowerment. As a professional model, I can honestly say the Fab Fem shoot was my favourite of all time, and as my business partner Natalie’s first time at a shoot, she left feeling like a million bucks! Within the few hours we were there, Natalie transformed from a timid newbie into a real model, feeling the insatiable desire to do it all over again once we wrapped up. She grew comfortable in front of the camera because the atmosphere allowed it. I too found myself feeling freer with Nancy and Crystal than with any other team I have worked with to date. These beautiful and talented women know exactly what a woman needs in order to feel safe, secure, beautiful and proud of her own beauty. This is what makes Fab Fem stand apart from all others.

Natalie and I went in for edgy business shots and came out with those as well as incredibly sexy shots that made us go WOW! From beginning to end, we were spoiled. We felt like queens when we entered the studio, being served lattes, compliments, and loving vibes, not to mention the delicious spread of treats to munch on during the shoot. Nancy and Crystal made us feel right at home and like we were the only women they had ever shot for, giving their complete attention to us and to our needs, while being completely mindful of our comfort levels. The entire Fabulous Feminine experience was perfect. Natalie and I grew closer as a team and as friends and our photos were the envy of everyone we knew. Yes, they were THAT good. Nothing tops them.

So on behalf of G&D, we would like to thank both Nancy and Crystal for sharing their gifts with the world, and for sharing them with us that day.

Recently we have been confronted about the FabFem. A misunderstanding in which the FabFem was believed to be something more explicit in nature. We feel compelled to solidify our vision and intent with the Fabulous Feminine experience.

We would like to express our thanks to this individual for helping us reaffirm our vision of the Fabulous Feminine and the experience that we hope comes through in our work.

Artistic expression has always been an abstract area when dealing with a business product and providing clients with a service. We respect that people hire us to preform a service for them based on past works and products that we offer.

We write this in hopes of achieving enlightenment in where our vision for the FabFem is as far as we are concerned. The FabFem is intended to be an experience where clients have an opportunity to explore the way THEY want to be seen and feel. We do not take it upon ourselves to dictate the manner in which each individual want this to be done.

We offer people access to our abilities and space in order for them to express themselves through the photographic medium. By using our abilities, creativity and professionalism we offer each individual an opportunity to cut loose and have fun in their sessions.

Our hopes for the FabFem is a chance for our clients to express different sides of their personality in a fun and carefree environment. We respect each individuals views on art and creativeness however, we DO NOT shoot anything the we feel is inappropriate or uncomfortable for all parties involved. We feel as though it would be a great misuse of the trust that a client has placed with us.

Boundaries are clearly set at the beginning of each session for mutual comfort and respect. Throughout the session we work collaboratively with our clients in order to bring out and achieve the goals set out at the beginning of the session. We encourage at any point throughout the session that clients feel free to express whatever they would like to shoot and portray, while keeping in mind the respect and freedom of both the client and us as artists are to be honoured.

Session are unique in nature and are never exactly repeated twice. Each individual needs to bring their feeling and desires to the set. We are only an avenue by which clients express themselves. We do not feel it is our place to tell anyone what they should be in order to feel confident and secure in themselves. It would be a great betrayal of each persons personal needs.

Should clients feel as though their session was not what they were expecting, we are more than open to discuss where they feel as though the session went the wrong. Our end goal is to offer a great experience with a wonderful product that will commemorate your "CREATIVE TIME" with us.

We stand behind our work the work that we provide as true and honourable representations of our time together and in the spirit of the FabFem Experience. Nothing honours us more than capturing that image, in a moment of openness, to express an inspirational message to anybody who sees it.

True art inspires and motivates, make us feel and understand points of view. Connects us all to one another but more importantly allows us to take a moment to step into ourselves as a journey of self discovery and self expression.

Through our experience and photos we as artists have a pursuit to represent the true nature of each individual that crosses our paths. We are honoured to have dealt with so many supportive and motivational people. It was once said that in the world of artistic expression that one third of the world will LOVE what you are doing, one third will FEEL APATHETIC to your doings, and one third will DISLIKE.

Our hope is that our work will speak to OUR third! We know you are out there and look forward to creating timeless works of art with you.

Why???? what are really really protecting ourselves from!

I don't really understand this. Lane Bryant has this ad for their women underwear. This ad was banned from Fox & ABC... what are you thinking????

This seems like nothing more than discrimination towards regular and plus sized women! HOW can they allow ads that are more risque and provocative run with their idea of beauty with out having a problem. Our world is really messed up in their views. The vast majority of the worlds women are not a size 0 or 2, at least not the ones over the age of 18. We keep trying to make ourselves look younger and be smaller. We keep hearing that we are not ok in the size that we are and unless we are a twig that we are less than.

The Victoria Secret's ad seems to run on FOX & ABC during prime time with no problems

These women look like pre-pubescent children. I am very disappointed with this direct and obvious attack on real women. I hope this gives you an opportunity to see the obvious discrimination toward all the real women out there.

We want every woman to feel good in her own skin. Know that you are good enough, that you can have a wonderful sexy sensual curves and you are ok... in fact you are better than ok! Celebrate the beauty and sexiness that comes from being a true WOMAN!!!

Me Fest and Upcoming Events!

Nancy and I (the Fab Fem Team), had the great pleasure of being part of "Me Fest" at the Waterloo Rec Complex on Saturday!
What a FUN show!!! There were exhibitors ranging from Jewelry to Nutrition, Makeup to Vacations!
If you have never been out to this show, make sure to catch it next time around! We'll definitely be there next year.
And, if you've never had the chance to come see Us at a trade show... you NEVER know what sweet deals and promotions you may be missing!!!
Make sure to catch us next @ "Heat in the Streets", the Waterloo Fire rescue fashion show to support CNIB! It is being held on Tuesday April 20, 2010 @ Revolution Night Club in Waterloo.
